Starpoint Middle raises $12k for NFMMC

October 18, 2022

Almost 250 students took part in Starpoint Middle School’s annual Color Run to Crush Cancer event earlier this year, raising $12,000 for Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

Proceeds from the event will go directly towards the medical center’s campaign to acquire a new 3T MRI machine for its downtown Niagara Falls campus.

“Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is so grateful for this gift from Starpoint Middle. These students raised an impressive amount of funds for their community, and they did so during a time when fundraising is especially challenging. We are truly thankful for their continued support,” said Joseph Ruffolo, President & CEO of Memorial.

Starpoint Middle students Stephen Carlson, Samantha Rucci, and Peter McGrath presented the check to Joe Ruffolo at the future site of The MRI Imaging Center of Niagara, which will be located at 571 tenth street in Niagara Falls.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to provide Memorial with this donation, which would not have been possible without the generosity of the Starpoint community and our sponsors, as well as the support and commitment of the Middle School staff,” said Dr. Corey Gray, Starpoint Middle School Principal.

The MRI Imaging Center of Niagara will provide the community with equal and immediate access to higher quality scans and faster diagnoses, and will be an essential tool in waging the battle against cancer. For more information on Memorial’s MRI campaign, visit www.nfmmc.org/mri-center-of-niagara.
