The Auxiliary of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center

Founded in 1905 as the hospital’s Women’s Auxiliary, the Auxiliary of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center remains true to its mission of providing support for the city’s only hospital.

A membership organization, open to men and women, the Auxiliary hosts special events and sales throughout the year to help raise dollars for NFMMC. Since it was founded, the Auxiliary has raised more than $3 million for the medical center.

Gift Shop

For the past 50 years, the Auxiliary has operated a popular gift shop that offers a wide selection of gifts, cards, cosmetics, jewelry, stationery, magazines, toys, candy, floral arrangements and personal items for patients. All proceeds benefit the Medical Center.

Scholarships

The Auxiliary’s scholarship program has helped scores of hospital employees grow in their healthcare careers since 1971.

The Werner-Barter Scholarships, one for $500.00 and one for $250.00.

Judy Shahin, Scholarship Chair

The 2017 Werner-Barter scholarship was awarded to Alvenia Harris.   Alvenia, shown in the middle, has been working at the hospital as an operating room tech. She has been attending NCCC working toward a degree in nursing. On the left is Gloria Tarpinian with Judy Shahin on the right. They chair the scholarship committee for the NFMMC Auxiliary. The scholarship is in the memory of Esther Werner and Helene Barter who worked for the hospital and were members of the auxiliary.
