Occupational Therapy & Hand Therapy
Occupational Therapy/Hand Therapy
Occupational therapy focuses on improving a person’s entire being, from cognitive and developmental disabilities to physical injury, by working with people of all ages who need specialized assistance to lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives. Occupational therapists work with the individual on what is important and meaningful to them such as dressing, bathing, eating, work, and leisure. Our ultimate goal is to get people back to doing what they value most by increasing independence and preventing further injury. At the Summit Healthplex, occupational therapy is focused on the hand, elbow, and arm.
Who can benefit from OT?
Individuals who have a health condition, injury, or disease and are having trouble completing their everyday activities; individuals whose condition prevents them from living their life to its fullest; people that have hand or arm conditions affecting their ability do the things they want and need to do; and those with neurologic conditions such as TBI, CVA, and Parkinson’s disease.
What can I expect from OT?
Our occupational therapists at the Summit Healthplex can assist you in all phases of healing, from the initial diagnosis through the recovery. Our overall goal is to develop a comprehensive plan that will not only treat your condition, injury, or disability, but help adapt your environment so that it is conducive to your recovery and growth. Our occupational therapists will work one-on-one with you to find the best way to help you improve so that you lead a satisfying life.
