Orthopedic Surgery

Embarking on the path of orthopedic surgery begins with an essential first step: consulting our accomplished orthopedic surgeons. This crucial interaction serves to evaluate your candidacy for the procedure. At NFMMC, your health is our priority. Our adept orthopedic team accompanies you through the decision-making journey, ensuring your understanding of the process and alignment with your specific needs.

Why Consider Surgery?

Orthopedic surgery can provide lasting pain relief, restore mobility, and enhance your quality of life when conservative treatments have limited effectiveness.

When to Consider Surgery?

Surgery becomes a viable option when non-surgical approaches no longer adequately manage your symptoms or when your condition worsens despite other interventions.

What Are the Risks?

Surgical risks include infection, bleeding, blood clots, and adverse reactions to anesthesia. Your surgeon will thoroughly discuss potential complications related to your specific procedure.

What Types of Procedures Are Available?

Our range of procedures includes joint replacements, minimally invasive techniques, and more. Your surgeon will recommend the most suitable option based on your condition.

How Long to Recover?

Recovery times vary depending on the complexity of the procedure. Physical therapy and rehabilitation play a crucial role in optimizing your recovery.

Can I Resume Activities?

Activity resumption depends on the procedure and your progress. Your surgeon will provide guidance on when you can safely engage in activities such as golf, swimming, workouts, and extended walking.

How Long Does the Replacement Last?

The lifespan of replacements varies based on factors like the type of implant used and your level of physical activity. Your surgeon can provide more specific information regarding longevity.

What Should I Ask My Surgeon?

Inquire about your surgeon’s experience, success rates, and potential complications related to your specific procedure. Asking informed questions empowers your decision-making.

How Long Will I Stay at the Hospital?

You will likely stay in the hospital for one to three days depending on your rehabilitation protocol and how fast you progress with physical therapy. This is highly dependent upon your condition before surgery, your age, and medical problems which can influence your rehabilitation. A safe discharge plan will be arranged for you by the orthopaedic team.

What Support Will I Need During Recovery?

Recovery often necessitates assistance with daily tasks and transportation. Your movement will be impaired and this may interfere with daily life. Prepare a support system to help you during this crucial period.
