We aim to educate and treat patients who have suffered from a concussion. We ensure your patient will receive the best care for a safe return to play or work.
What is a Concussion?
A concussion is an injury to the brain. Most often it is caused by a blow to the head or body. You do NOT have to lose consciousness to sustain a concussion. There is no concussion deemed too small to NOT be taken seriously.
Some concussion symptoms include:
- Difficulty with remembering recent events or meaningful facts
- Severe headache, particularly in a specific location
- Stiffening of the neck
- Mental confusion or strangeness
- Dizziness, poor balance, or unsteadiness
What to expect at your visit to the Concussion Clinic
An examination with either Dr. Jesse Fodero or Greg Zybczynski, PA from UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine
Exertional Testing during the evaluation to determine a prescription of aerobic exercise for treatment
A complete physical therapy and athletic training examination during your physician visit that tests all systems that could be effected by a concussion
Follow-up visit and reassessment to prepare for return to sport or activities of daily living
