Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has named Dr. Ronald P. Emerson, as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
The cardiac catheterization laboratory is a joint venture among four hospitals, including Niagara Falls Memorial, Catholic Health System, Kaleida Health, and the Erie County Medical Center. It is the only cardiac catheterization laboratory based in Niagara County. The facility provides lifesaving, around-the-clock services to Niagara County residents.
“We are very excited about having Dr. Emerson, an interventional cardiologist, lead the cardiac catheterization laboratory. He is highly skilled and his experience spans over three decades,” said Joseph A. Ruffolo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Emerson earned a Master’s degree in Health Sciences at the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed his Medical degree at St. George’s University of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies. Following his residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY at Buffalo, Dr. Emerson completed a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in 1994 and a second Interventional Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin / Sinai Samaritan Medical Center in 1995.
Dr. Emerson is board certified in interventional cardiology. He maintains a cardiology practice, known as Empire Cardiology, PC, in Orchard Park, New York. Since 1995, Dr. Emerson has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor HS of the Department of Medicine at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, State University of New York at Buffalo.
As Medical Director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory, Dr. Emerson will be responsible for overseeing the lab’s clinical performance, providing patient care, adhering to policies and procedures, and reporting clinical outcomes to New York State and national data registries.
