 A remarkable story of compassion during a patient’s final hours. Dr.Shaikh is a humble man, he would never tell about the remarkable work he does or brag about the way he and his team goes above and beyond for patients. But we will….

This is from a patient’s family.

“Daily, in this horrible time, we have been hearing stories on the news of heroic doctors and nurses serving the dual role of a medical practitioner, and surrogate family to patients in hospitals. Often, needing to scramble to find ways to allow families to say their final words to loved ones through Facetime, or walkie talkies. This became a reality for my family Saturday. On Saturday morning we received a call from Dr. Zubair Shaikh, advising us our loved one was not going to survive much longer, and suggesting that we try to arrange to Skype with her. We quickly gathered family from all over the country together in a Zoom meeting, and Dr. Shaikh invited us on to a call. Dr. Shaikh then put on a mask and gown and went to my loved one’s bedside. Several hours after that call, our beloved passed away. As we grieve, our family is heartbroken that we could not be there. However, although we did not receive the miracle that we prayed for, thanks to Dr. Shaikh’s medical expertise, judgment, and compassion, we did receive the incredible blessing of being able to share our final words. For this, we are all so very grateful to him. The staff of the third floor, the ICU, and especially Dr. Shaikh are incredible medical professionals, and are truly doing God’s work at this time.”
