Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, the only teaching hospital in Niagara County, is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Practice as an Osteopathic Family Practice Residency Program site.
Family Practice Residency has been an important part of Memorial's mission and service to the community since the 1970s. Since 1979, our programs (M.D. and D.O. combined) have graduated 129 physicians, 19 of whom remain in practice in Western New York.
Niagara Falls Memorial proudly offers a three-year Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency Program. We strongly believe in offering the best educational experience possible. This is achieved through our faculty, who are very enthusiastic about teaching both residents and students.
As we are an unopposed residency program -- Family Practice is the only residency program at Memorial -- our residents don't have to compete for personal teaching time and procedural exposure. If you are in Surgery, you are treated as a surgical resident. If you are in OB, you are treated as the OB resident. This type of environment allows for one-on-one personal training and unlimited learning opportunities.
NFM Family Medicine Residency is committed to helping the community, which has an underserved population. Our residents go into the community and give educational talks on any disease state our region deals with. We also go to migrant farm worker camps from July to November to perform physicals and medical assessment on workers who rarely have the time or the means to see a physician regularly.
Memorial's academic affiliation with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) extends beyond the residency program. We also are a clinical education teaching site for medical students completing clinical rotations.
We treat our residents as family. We are here to support both residents and students to become the best physicians they can be.
We are looking for team-oriented residents to join our program. If you are looking for a well-rounded educational experience in a supportive, team-oriented environment the Niagara Falls Family Residency is the place for you.
