New Memorial Cath Lab Saves Lives of Eight Patients
Because the pains started in his back, Philip Settimi didn’t know he was having a heart attack or that he was about to die.
But because the 53-year-old was treated in the new cardiac catheterization laboratory, medical staffers were able to save his life. Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center officials say he was the eighth patient who was saved in the recently opened lab, located at the Heart Center of Niagara. It is the first and only lab of its kind in Niagara County.
“As of Friday the team there has recorded eight confirmed saves, opening up the coronary arteries of patients who were having heart attacks and restoring live-saving blood flow to their hearts,” said hospital spokesman Patrick Bradley.
