University Sports Medicine

University Sports Medicine, Western New York's premier practice for the treatment of orthopedic and sports-related conditions and injuries, is now open at the Summit Healthplex.

An affiliate of Memorial Medical Center, University Sports Medicine of Niagara offers:

  • Same day consultations and direct access to University Sports Medicine of Niagara's fellowship-trained sports medicine physicians.
  • A 24/7 sports medicine hotline for contact with the manager of sports medicine and athletic training.
  • Access to a daily sports injury clinic with no appointment needed.
  • Sport-specific orthopedic surgical services.
  • Rehabilitation services, including sports specific rehabilitation, by physical therapists and athletic trainers at the Summit Outpatient Rehab Center.
  • Educational seminars for high school sports teams on topics such as heat-related illness, head injuries, feeding the athlete, and the mechanics of pitching.
  • The Competitive Edge Sports Performance Program, an off-season conditioning program that helps athletes at all levels maximize their athletic potential by improving speed, agility and core strength while working to prevent injuries.

Directing the staff at University Sports Medicine of Niagara are:

Dr. William Wind Jr., director of the Western New York Cartilage Restoration Center and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Wind did his fellowship work at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Sports Medicine/Knee and Shoulder Arthroscopic Surgery. He is the head team physician for UB men's basketball.

Sports Medicine Manager Tony Surace, athletic trainer for the Niagara Falls High School Wolverines football and basketball team and a widely known and respected certified athletic trainer.

Terry Rose, a doctorate-level trained physical therapist and Memorial's director of rehabilitation services.
