Memorial names Walker community health advocate

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has appointed Charles A. Walker community health advocate.

In his new position, Walker will be responsible for surveying the health needs of the community, promoting health care services offered by Memorial and identifying opportunities to provide new services based on community needs.

Walker, a former Niagara Falls City Council chairman and a current Council member, has served the community for the past 20 years as a volunteer with the Christian Basketball Program, the Niagara Falls Housing Authority and the Great Lakes Junior and Young Adult Laymen programs. He is a member and longtime deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he was food pantry director for 10 years.

"Charlie's record of public service speaks for itself," said Memorial President & CEO Joseph A. Ruffolo. "We are fortunate to have him working on our behalf as a liaison to the community we serve."

Walker's office is in the Hamilton B. Mizer Primary Care Center. He can be reached by calling 285-2382 or by e-mail at charles.walker@nfmmc.org.
