Memorial names Krolewski chief nursing officer

Joanne Krolewski, BS, RN, has been promoted to the newly created position of Chief Nursing Officer. Her appointment is effective immediately.

A member of the medical center staff since 1975, Joanne began her career as a staff nurse in the Orthopedic/Surgical Unit. She subsequently served Head Nurse, Patient Care Coordinator and Nurse Manager in the Orthopedic/Surgical Unit; Acting Vice President for Nursing; Assistant Vice President for Nursing; and Director of Medical Surgical Services.

Prior to her promotion to Chief Nursing Officer, Joanne served three years as Memorial's Director of Acute Care Services, providing oversight for all patient care activities, departmental operations and staff functions.

In her new position, Joanne will be responsible for day-to-day operation of patient care units and designated clinical areas and for developing and implementing nursing strategy and corporate policies for the delivery of quality patient care.  In addition, she will implement patient-focused management programs, nursing practice guidelines, nursing quality indicators and nursing research based practices. 

Her areas of responsibility will include Inpatient and Ambulatory Patient Care Services (Medical/Surgical, Critical Care, Emergency, Peri-operative, Women's Health), Rehabilitation Services, Pharmacy, Education and Professional Development, and the Child Advocacy Center.
