Memorial names Gorman chief of emergency services

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has appointed Gerald Gorman, MD, chief of emergency services at ER1.

He succeeds Dr. John Radford, who will assume administrative responsibilities for FDR Medical Services, PC,  the physician group that staffs Memorial's emergency department.

A graduate of Cornell University and the Georgetown University Medical School, Dr. Gorman completed his residency training in emergency medicine at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences and was an attending physician in the emergency department at Mercy Hospital, Buffalo.  He returns to Western New York following a four-year stint as attending physician in the emergency department at Brockton Hospital in Brockton, Mass.

Dr. Gorman has experience in emergency department ultrasound as well as in telemedicine and exercise stress testing.  He will be in charge of all physician related services at ER1, the only emergency department in the Greater Niagara region staffed exclusively with residency trained, board certified emergency medicine doctors.

ER1 is the only emergency department in the region actively participating in the state Department of Health's telemedicine stroke care initiative in collaboration with the comprehensive stroke center at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital.  In addition, ER1 is the area's only emergency department to be fully integrated with a cardiac care center, The Heart Center of Niagara.
