Home > News Room > American Diabetes Association launches new employee health program at Memor American Diabetes Association launches new employee health program at Memorial Medical CenterThe American Diabetes Association announced today that Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is the first area employer to adopt the ADA's new Corporate Health Ambassador program. An action-based initiative that seeks to educate and motivate employees to avoid the pitfalls and health risks that can lead to of type 2 diabetes, the new program encourages healthier lifestyles by promoting actions such as reducing caloric intake, increasing physical activity and selecting walking as a viable choice of physical activity at work and at home. Corporate Health Ambassadors are companies that have pledged to help employees become healthier people. They do this by creating an environment that supports healthy eating and physical activity and by providing helpful information on lifestyle changes that can impact health and prevent diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. "We are excited to be the first in Western New York to implement the Corporate Health Ambassador initiative," said Liz Raleigh, supervising dietitian at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. "Our new Diabetes & Endocrinology Center of Niagara is attracting patients of all ages and this program will motivate our staff to model the healthy behaviors we encourage in those patients." NFMMC launched the Corporate Health Ambassador program March 1. The initiative will run for six weeks and will include incentives that encourage continuous physical activity and healthy food choices and meal planning. |
